Police Investigate Fatal Motorcycle Collision

Released on Sunday, August 25, 2019

On August 25, 2019 at 1:16 am, Fort Collins Police Services was notified of a motorcycle collision at the intersection of Centre Avenue and Rolland Moore Drive. Witnesses reported a motorcycle went off the road and dropped into a ditch canal.

A 2002 Yamaha motorcycle was traveling south on Centre Avenue. At the intersection with Rolland Moore Drive, the motorcycle went off the right side of the roadway and into the empty canal. The motorcycle collided with the far side of the canal bank and flipped into an open field.

The operator, a 22-year-old man from Fort Collins, died at the scene. His name will be released by the Larimer County Coroner’s Office pending notification of family.

The intersection was closed for approximately 4 ½ hours while investigators processed the scene. Police believe speed contributed to the collision.

Anyone with information about the collision, who has not already given a statement to police, is asked to contact Officer Drew Jurkofsky at 970-416-2224.
