City of Fort Collins Dedicates 4th of July Celebration in Commemoration of D-Day

(FORT COLLINS, CO) - Independence Day in Fort Collins is a day-long celebration with a menu of family-friendly activities including a parade, musical performances, food truck rally and fireworks display.

This year, the City of Fort Collins dedicates the 4th of July events in commemoration of the 75th Anniversary of the Allied invasion of Normandy (D-Day), and to the men and women who serve our country. Leading the 4th of July parade as an ambassador of the American Troops will be WWII veteran Corporal Curt Cameron, 95th Squadron of the 440th Troop Carrier Group.

The parade will begin at 10 a.m. and travel west on Mountain Avenue, starting at Meldrum Street and ending at Jackson Avenue. Special entries in this year's parade include the 911 I-beam from the World Trade Center, 101st Army Band, and others.

In addition to the 4th of July Parade, the City of Fort Collins is working with community partners to host a full day of celebratory events and activities. The line-up for the day includes:

7:30 a.m. Firecracker 5k (City Park)
7:30 a.m. Stars & Stripes Golf Tournament (City Park Nine Golf Course)
9:30 a.m. 39th Annual Old Timer's Baseball Game (City Park North Ballfield)
10 a.m. 4th of July Parade (Mountain Avenue)
10 a.m.-2 p.m. Avery House Celebration (328 W. Mountain Avenue)
11 a.m.-5:30 p.m. City Park Pool, $3 admission (City Park)
12-5 p.m. Trolley Rides, $2 for adults, $1 for kids (City Park - Old Town)
5:45-10:30 p.m. Free Shuttles to/from City Park
3-9:40 p.m. Live Music and Food Truck Rally (City Park)
9:35 p.m. Fireworks Celebration (City Park over Sheldon Lake)

Music and Fireworks at City Park
The day's festivities will end in City Park with live music, a food truck rally and a spectacular fireworks display over Sheldon Lake.

The fireworks display is scheduled to begin at 9:35 p.m., depending on wind and weather conditions.

Parking and Free Shuttle Services
Traffic routes and regular parking will be impacted throughout the day on July 4.
- From 4 a.m. to noon, parking around the parade route will be limited and vehicles parked in closed areas will be towed.
- From 5 a.m. to midnight, parking will not be permitted in City Park (including City Park Pool and City Park Nine Golf Course). Parking around City Park's perimeter will also be limited.
- Persons with disabled parking permits may park in designated parking areas on the south side of Sheldon Lake off Mulberry Street.

Free shuttles, provided by Transfort, will be available to City Park from the Downtown Transit Center (DTC) and the CSU Towers parking lot. Additionally:
- Shuttles to City Park from CSU Moby Arena Parking Lot and Downtown Transit Center (DTC) begin at 5:30 p.m.
- The last shuttle to City Park will leave CSU Moby Arena and the DTC at 9:10 p.m.
- At the conclusion of the fireworks, shuttles will resume from City Park back to CSU and the DTC.
- MAX will be running 30-minute service from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and 10-minute service from 5 p.m. to midnight.
- The last southbound MAX will leave the DTC at midnight.

Alcohol, fireworks and pets are not permitted on the shuttles or in City Park. Please call Transfort at 970.221.6620 for questions regarding shuttles.
