On May 6, 2019 firefighters from the Poudre Fire Authority and Fort Collins Police Officers responded to a structure fire at 1601 North College Avenue.

Upon searching the residence, PFA firefighters located a deceased person inside. Additionally, one dog was also found deceased. The victim and the dog were the only occupants at the time of the fire.

Responders were dispatched at 10:05 PM and PFA Engine 12 was the first to arrive on scene at 10:09 PM. Firefighters extinguished the fire by 10:18 PM.

PFA remained at the home afterward to monitor the atmosphere and control the heat and risk in the room where the fire took place. This helps maintain the integrity and safety of the scene for investigation.

Investigators from the Poudre Fire Authority and Detectives from Fort Collins Police Services responded and are working collaboratively to investigate the fire. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

The Larimer County Coroner’s Office will release the identity of the deceased, as well as cause and manner of death at a later time. No further information is available at this time.

Anyone with any information, who has not already spoken with police is asked to call Detective Moeller at (970) 221-6563.
