Fort Collins Utilities and City of Fort Collins Engineering are working on a project to replace the bridge over Spring Creek at Edora Park and improve and restore the creek. Preliminary construction activities will begin around Sept. 10, with Utilities work continuing in Spring Creek after the bridge replacement is complete.

Utilities and its contractor, Connell Resources, will begin construction of structural modifications to facilitate the bridge work, including a buried water quality vault, raising a sanitary sewer manhole and constructing a protective concrete cap over the sanitary sewer line.

The Riverside Bridge, which crosses Spring Creek near the Edora Pool Ice Center (EPIC), will be replaced by City Engineering. Construction will continue through January 2019. During the six-week full closure of Riverside Avenue beginning sometime in October. Access to EPIC will be from Stuart Street.

City Engineering work will raise Riverside Avenue out of the 100-year floodplain. After the bridge is constructed, Utilities will realign Spring Creek at that location, stabilizing banks and improving fish and wildlife habitats. Revegetation and restoration of the landscape will continue through the summer. The bridge and creek improvements are scheduled for the fall and winter months to coincide with the lowest Spring Creek flows.
