Fort Collins Police Investigate Shooting – Update

On July 4th at approximately 5:42pm, Fort Collins Police responded to the report of a shooting in the 800 Block of Merganser Drive, in north Fort Collins.

The victim in this incident, a 16-year-old juvenile male, later died as a result of injuries he sustained in the shooting. The Larimer County Coroner’s office will release the identity and manner of death of the victim.

Fort Collins Police continued this investigation as a homicide.

During the course of our investigation, a 16-year-old juvenile male was identified as a suspect in this incident. The suspect and the victim were known to each other.

The suspect in this case is in custody on an unrelated matter.

Fort Collins Police has presented our investigation to the Larimer County District Attorney’s office and criminal charges are pending. A final determination of charges will be released by the Larimer County District Attorney’s office.

Based on the information obtained in our investigation, Fort Collins Police do not believe there is any ongoing threat to our community.

Fort Collins Police Investigate Shooting

On July 4th at approximately 5:42pm, Fort Collins Police responded to a report of a shooting in the 800 Block of Merganser Drive, in north Fort Collins.

When officers arrived on scene, they found one victim with serious injuries. The victim was transported to the hospital for treatment.

Fort Collins Police are currently investigating this incident. Based on the information obtained in the investigation, we do not believe there is any ongoing threat to our community.
