Police Investigate Motorcycle Collision

On June 5, 2018 at approximately 10:45pm, Fort Collins Police Services was notified of a collision at the intersection of Elizabeth Street and Overland Trail involving a single motorcycle.

A Yamaha motorcycle was traveling west on Elizabeth Street and failed to stop for a stop sign at Overland Trail. The motorcyclist attempted to stop, but lost control and went off the roadway on the west side of the intersection.

The driver of the motorcycle, Jonathan Gerold, 28, of Fort Collins, suffered serious injuries and was taken to Medical Center of the Rockies for treatment. He was wearing a helmet.

The intersection of Elizabeth Street and Overland Trail was closed for approximately 5 hours while investigators processed the scene. Police believe speed may have contributed to the collision.
