As part of the Regional Air Quality Council, the City is co-hosting a lawnmower exchange event for all Larimer County residents May 12 at The Ranch Events Complex, 5280 Arena Circle, Parking Lot G, in Loveland.
Advance registration is required for the event atwww.mowdownpollution.org. Residents can choose from three models of electric lawn mowers to purchase at a discounted price and bring an old gas-powered lawn mower to recycle.
Pollution emitted from gasoline usage contributes to the creation of ground-level ozone – the main component of smog. Ozone is created when these pollutants react with heat and sunlight.Federal air quality standards regulate ozone due to the negative impacts it can have on health and respiratory systems. People most at risk are children, asthmatics and the elderly.
