On Wednesday, Jan. 10 from 6-8 p.m. in the Community Room of the Old Town Library, the City of Fort Collins Neighborhood Services Department will host an open house where residents can learn about upcoming work being done in neighborhoods, as well the 2018 Neighborhood Connections program and what it offers.

Neighborhood Connections runs throughout the year and focuses on encouraging basic neighboring as the first step to strengthening our community. The program recognizes that connected neighborhoods are healthier, safer, and happier, and offers no-cost education and resources to that end. Neighborhood Connections strives to bring people together within their neighborhood, across neighborhoods, and with the City services available to support them.

"If the polarization, distrust, and injustice that threaten the strength of our nation are to change, neighborhoods must be restored,” said past participant and neighborhood leader Mitch Majeski. “In our neighborhoods, we have the opportunity to live with and rely on people with diverse convictions and backgrounds - and we do it face-to-face, over multiple years, not multiple characters. This is where we resist the power of exclusion and build wisdom, empathy AND conviction. This is where we will get better.”

The Open House will also include City and County specialists, including representatives from: City of Fort Collins FC Moves and Social Sustainability departments, Transfort, the Family Leadership Training Institute, Larimer Connects and more. The event is open to the public and food will be provided. For more information about Neighborhood Connections visit:
