The City of Fort Collins Recreation Department is your community resource for staying active and connected in the Fort Collins community. Recreation offers programs and activities for all abilities. In addition to traditional programming, Recreation will host a number of unique events throughout May including the Spring Ice Spectacular Ice Show and Kites in the Park. A listing of special events taking place in May is below. Spring Ice Spectacular Ice Show
Friday, May 5 (7 p.m.) & Saturday, May 6 (1 p.m. & 6 p.m.)
Location: Edora Pool Ice Center, 1801 Riverside Avenue
This world-class ice show brings classic fairytales to life with choreography and technical skill, including guest skating appearances from local ice skating star, Nica Digerness, and her skating partner, Danny Neudecker. More information is available at

SOAP Troupe: Moments In Time, a Blast from the Past II
Friday, May 5 (1:30 & 7 p.m.) & Saturday, May 6 (2 p.m.)

Kites in the Park
Sunday, May 21 (10 a.m. - 3 p.m.)
Location: Spring Canyon Park, 3156 S. Overland Trail
Grab your kite and come out the 10th annual Kites in the Park Festival. This free family-friendly community event celebrates all things kites. Enjoy great food, activities, and demonstrations. Shuttles are available from Hughes Stadium to the park. Learn more at

Welcome Home – Honoring Our Vietnam Veterans
Wednesday, May 24-Saturday, May 27
Location: Veterans Plaza, Spring Canyon Park, 3156 S. Overland Trail
This year marks the 50th Anniversary of the Vietnam War. As an official Commemorative Partner in the Vietnam War Commemorative Partner Program, Parks & Recreation and the Veterans Plaza extend their gratitude to those who have served, and their families. A series of events will take place throughout the week, including reading of the names and the showing of the Traveling Vietnam Memorial Wall. Find more information, including how to volunteer, at
