The City of Fort Collins is seeking input from residents regarding potential changes to the current public nudity ordinance that would allow women to be topless in public.
At the request of a group of citizens, the City is considering updating the existing public nudity ordinance, which does not allow for women to be topless in public. On Oct. 20, 2015 Council will consider the following two potential updates to the ordinance:
Option 1: Maintains the current policy that does not allow for women to be topless in public, but adds an exception for breastfeeding mothers.
Option 2: Allows for women to be topless in public.
Both update options continue to prohibit any nudity from the waist down by any person over the age of 10 and will provide exceptions for medical emergencies, performance venues, and changing areas.
Citizens are invited to respond to a brief online poll and share their opinions on the proposed changes to the ordinance: fcgov.com/nudityordinance. The poll will be open from October 5, 2015 to October 12, 2015.
