Fort Collins Utilities Featured in Energy Efficiency Report

Posted on: Jan-12-2016

Fort Collins Utilities was featured as one of the top municipal utilities in terms of customer energy efficiency gains in a report by the American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy (ACEEE). The report notes that over a quarter of all customers are served by the public power sector and aims to document examples of utilities with strong efficiency achievements.

Based on suggestions from industry experts, ACEEE surveyed a total of 23 municipal utilities with substantial energy efficiency efforts. Fort Collins Utilities was among nine of the highest performers profiled to identify and discuss key factors that motivate and enable municipal utilities to have strong energy efficiency efforts and accomplishments. The profile highlights Utilities' collaboration with Platte River Power Authority, comprehensive portfolio of programs and long history of promoting sustainability.

The report mentions that while there is much variability in the level of energy efficiency activities across the sector, municipal utilities are fully capable of competing with their investor-owned cousins.
