The Works#

Complex problems require collaborative solutions.

In The Works, we bring together elements of Community Mediation and Restorative Justice to build a distinct process designed for a complex conflict.

We provide the support you need to have these difficult conversations. 

There is no cost for this service. [Interpretation services provided upon request.]

Examples of Works cases:

  • Group conflicts about parking, noise, lighting, pets, street use, destructive behaviors and more. 
  • Local business and neighborhood conflict about noise, parking, etc. 
  • A series of facilitated conversations.
  • HOA and developer in conflict about communication.
  • Conflicts involving a large number of individuals, groups or neighborhoods.
  • Complex conflicts that require time between meetings for action and deliberation.
  • Neighboring families in conflict around issues that involve their children.

The Works does not accept: 

  • Situations more appropriate for legal action, counseling or law enforcement. 
  • Issues of child custody, divorce, or domestic violence. 

Free interpretation services are available upon request.

How "The Works" Works#

Step 1

Reach out to our staff to request services by phone, email, or website. You may also be referred to The Works program.

Step 2

A 30-minute phone call with our staff, and others involved to learn more and assess the conflict.

Step 3

Our staff explores issues with potential participants and identifies desired outcomes.

Step 4

Common ground and concerns are identified.

Step 5

Process is designed by experienced facilitators.

Step 6

Involved people are invited to participate; scheduling ensues.

Step 7

Involved people are brought together to share impacts and find a way forward.
