Fort Collins Utilities Offers Toilet Rebates

Posted on: Jun-28-2017

Toilets typically are the main source of water use inside the home, accounting for nearly 30 percent of indoor consumption. Fort Collins Utilities water customers who replace their toilets with a WaterSense-labeled toilet that uses 1.27 gallons per flush (GPF) or less may qualify for the following rebates:

  • $50 rebate for toilet of 1.27 GPF or less
  • $75 rebate for toilet of 1 GPF or less

Estimates have shown that replacing an old toilet with a new, efficient WaterSense toilet can save over 7,000 gallons per year or more, depending on the age of the older toilet and the efficiency of the new one. For example, replacing an old 3-gallon per flush toilet, which uses over 14 thousand gallons each year, with a new 0.8-gallon toilet, which only uses about 4,000 gallons, could save 10,000 gallons annually.

To receive a rebate, customers must also recycle their toilet, which can be done for free at the City Streets Facility, 1380 Hoffman Mill Rd., or for $5 at the Timberline Recycling Center, 1903 S. Timberline Rd. The crushed porcelain is combined into an aggregate and used as road base.
