Excavation Work to Begin on West Vine Stormwater Project, Traffic Delays Expected

Posted on: Feb-14-2014

Excavation and dirt hauling will begin Monday, Feb. 17 for the West Vine Outfall Stormwater Project, located in the West Vine Stormwater Basin. Delays can be expected on North Shields Street from Vine Drive to Willox Lane. This phase of the project will last 6-8 weeks.

Large trucks will exit and enter the site along North Shields Street (to the south of the river), utilizing Shields Street north to Willox Lane as the haul route.

Starting Monday, the Poudre Trail will be closed from Taft Hill Road to Lee Martinez Park until June 1. Visit https://www.fcgov.com/west-vine-outfall for detour information and updates.

Approximately 50,000 cubic yards of dirt will be excavated to create a 3,300-foot stream corridor and two water quality detention areas. These improvements also will provide opportunities for enhancement of wildlife, riparian and aquatic habitat along the stream.
