Posted on: Sep-19-2013

Fort Collins Utilities and the Colorado Green Building Guild are partnering to offer trainings for local contractors in several key areas as part of the Business Efficiency Program. There will be three presentations in the coming months on the subjects of Air Barriers, Windows and Insulation and the Integrated Design Assistance Program.

On September 25, 8-10 a.m., Utilities will host Stuart Mitchell, P.E., of Pie Consulting and Engineering for a perspective on essential elements that contribute to achieving continuous air barrier systems. Learn how to successfully meet the City of Fort Collins’ air tightness requirements for new commercial buildings. The training will be at the Utilities Service Center, 700 Wood St.

The program moves to the Lincoln Center Columbine Room, 417 W. Magnolia St., October 5, 8-11 a.m., for a two-part presentation on exterior insulation and window integration in commercial buildings. Steve Dawson of DOW Building Solutions and Robert Clarke, an independent window consultant, will provide their expertise.

The third presentation will be at Utilities, November 12, 8-10 a.m. This training will detail the Integrated Design Assistance Program, which provides incentives and technical support to help owners, designers and contractors deliver high-performance buildings that exceed building code energy efficiency requirements.
