If you’ve spent any time in Old Town this summer, you may have seen pockets of performing arts and fine artists working their craft on the sidewalks and courtyards of Downtown. Thanks to Beet Street, both artists and the greater community are connecting on the streets of Fort Collins Friday afternoons, Saturdays and Sundays, now through October 17.
Beet Street is the arts and cultural arm of the Downtown Development Authority. The organization feeds the curious and creative soul of Fort Collins through many kinds of year-round presentations, activities and events. Beet Street believes in quality performance and displays, that’s why they are paying the dozens of performers a decent wage to entertain us, the community, during Streetmosphere.
Volunteers help the artists with set up, clean up and provide general information to passersby’s every weekend. They are also keeping track of how many people stop and take in the entertainment sprinkled throughout Old Town. Each weekend more than 3,000 people take a break from their shopping, eating and strolling to be part of the first annual Streetmosphere. September is the perfect month to discover this authentic artistic scene.
