The City of Fort Collins 4th of July Parade presented by Blue Ocean Enterprises and the Richardson Foundation was a success on Independence Day with over 35 parade entries participating. The patriotism and love for the USA certainly showed with the entries as well as the spectators who camped out on Mountain Avenue.
The 2014 awards are for Best Overall, 2nd Place and 3rd Place. In a nod towards the special theme celebrating the 150th anniversary of the fort moving to Fort Collins, the judges were: previous City of Fort Collins Mayors: Barbara Rutstein (Term: 1985-1986), Kelly Ohlson (Term: 1986-1987), Ray Martinez (Term: 1999-2005); current Mayor Karen Weitkunat and Wendy Williams, Assistant City Manager. The scores were based on a scale of 1 to 5 in the areas of patriotism, creativity and enthusiasm. The competition was good this year and the scores were close. Each placing entry will be given an award to commemorate their participation.
