On May 8, 2014 at approximately 8:50 p.m., Fort Collins Police received a report of a pedestrian struck by a motorist at the intersection of West Elizabeth Street and Constitution Avenue.
The pedestrian, 32 year-old Stanley Brooks of Fort Collins was attempting to cross Constitution Avenue from west to east on the north side of Elizabeth Street. As Mr. Brooks and another man, Martin Church, a 31 year-old resident of Fort Collins, was entering the crosswalk, a vehicle turned from southbound Constitution to westbound Elizabeth. According to witnesses, the vehicle had previously stopped for a southbound red light and the driver appeared to be looking toward the east prior to turning right on the red light.
Mr. Brooks suffered serious, but not life threatening injuries from the collision, and was transported to Medical Center of the Rockies by ambulance.
The driver of the vehicle made no attempt to stop or render aid to Mr. Brooks. The vehicle is described as a late model 1990's to early 2000's, dark red or maroon colored sedan. Witnesses believed it could have been an import model such as a Honda or Toyota.
Fort Collins Police Investigators are asking for the public's help to locate and identify the vehicle and driver that caused this collision.
