City to Host Air Quality Forum on April 30
Released on Wednesday, April 23, 2014
The Air Quality Advisory Board will sponsor a public air quality forum from 6:30-8:30 p.m. on April 30, 2014, in the Community Room at 215 N. Mason St., featuring Colorado State University Professor John Volckens.
Volckens, an associate professor and associate department head of Environmental and Radiological Health Sciences at Colorado State University, researches the development of methods for aerosol and air pollution measurement, combustion emissions, and improvement of diagnostic techniques that assess adverse health effects of human exposure to air pollutants.
At the air quality forum, Volckens will discuss Fort Collins residents’ exposure to pollutants while commuting in a car, biking, or walking. The forum will focus on the effects of the air pollutants including ozone, particular matter, greenhouse gases and indoor air pollution.
The forum is also an opportunity for residents to ask questions and provide input on air quality issues in Fort Collins. In addition, residents will have an opportunity to learn about current air quality trends and programs that Fort Collins already implements surrounding air quality.
