Antonio Armstrong (DOB 4/26/92) was recently arrested for First Degree Assault (class 3 felony) following an incident that occurred in the early morning hours of June 17, 2017.

Armstrong and several others were socializing on an outdoor patio at an apartment complex located on Oxford Lane. Around 3 a.m., Armstrong reportedly became angry and struck the victim, Joel Matondo, 24, on the head with a bottle.

Shortly after being struck with the bottle, Matondo returned to his apartment and went to bed. Around mid-morning, both of Matondo’s roommates tried unsuccessfully to wake him up before they left for work. At approximately 12:45 p.m., one roommate called 9-1-1 from work and requested a welfare check on Matondo. Emergency medical personnel responded to the residence and found Matondo unresponsive. He was transported to Medical Center of the Rockies and diagnosed with a life-threatening injury as a result of the assault.

Armstrong was arrested on June 18 and booked into the Larimer County Jail on the charge of first degree assault. His booking photo is attached courtesy of Larimer County Sheriff’s Office. Anyone with additional information about this case may contact Detective Jason Curtis at 970-416-2776. Those with information may also contact Crime Stoppers of Larimer County at 970-221-6868 or www.stopcriminals.org.

All charges are simply an accusation by law enforcement officers, and all arrested parties must be presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
