The Nature in the City Biodiversity Project is a citizen science program to monitor birds and butterflies around Fort Collins. The goal is to collect long-term ecological data that will help support the Nature in the City Strategic Plan to maintain "a connected open space network accessible to the entire community that provides a variety of experiences and functional habitat for people, plants, and wildlife." During the summer of 2016, volunteers learned about urban wildlife and exploring the many natural spaces in Fort Collins as they conducted scientific surveys for birds and butterflies. In 2017 the project continues. Learn more >>>
Nature in the City involves extensive public outreach, including open houses, workshops, interactive maps and more!
As part of a Community Issues Forum, the Visioning Workshop was held to share our vision with you, gather feedback on why you value nature and better understand where the community would like us to take this project. See the presentation and keypad results.
