Art in Action 2010

The Art in Action Project enjoyed its second year of success in 2010. A collaborative project between the Fort Collins Art in Public Places Program and the Downtown Development Authority, the Art in Action Project brings the creative process into the public realm.

During the summer and fall of 2010, local artist Jim Lynxwiler spent a few days each week on Old Town Square, working on a life-sized sculpture and demonstrating the steps of the lost wax process of bronze sculpture casting. The culmination of Jim's exciting project was a live molten bronze pour in Old Town Square, facilitated by the Sculpture Center of Fort Collins. Jim will be casting two of his "Free to Dance" sculptures in bronze. They will be placed in Old Town on the corner of Walnut and Linden.
