Mayor Troxell and Fort Collins Utilities Honor Revive Properties for Energy Efficient Construction

Posted on: Sep-14-2018

Mayor Wade Troxell and representatives from Fort Collins Utilities recognized Revive Properties Sept. 13 for their accomplishment in constructing high performance, net-zero energy homes.

A plaque was presented on behalf of Utilities’ Integrated Design Assistance Program (IDAP), which offers financial incentives and no-cost technical support for energy-efficient design in new commercial construction and major renovation projects.

Located minutes north of Old Town, Revive Properties have exceeded IDAP energy-use targets, with buildings performing near net-zero energy use, and others producing more than they use.

The Revive team participated in IDAP by setting energy reduction goals early in the planning phase, conducting an energy design workshop and computer modeling a variety of design options.

To date, IDAP has provided over $76,000 in incentives to Revive to offset additional design costs and energy efficiency features.

Since its launch in 1996, IDAP has reimbursed participants nearly $1.3 million in rebates, while reducing average annual energy costs by an estimated $46,000 per project.

"IDAP provides a framework to support design decisions related to energy efficiency," said Gary Schroeder, Utilities' senior energy services engineer. "Buildings that complete the program have been shown to have lower operating and maintenance costs, along with improved indoor environmental quality and occupant comfort. The Revive design and construction teams took IDAP principles and ran with them, far exceeding energy performance targets."

Additional funds are still available for local building owners and design teams who wish to participate.
