Larimer County Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan Annual Report Now Available

Posted on: Jan-25-2018

Fort Collins Utilities participates in the National Flood Insurance Program's Community Rating System (CRS). The CRS is an incentive program for communities to go above and beyond the Federal Emergency Management Agency's (FEMA) minimum standards for floodplain management.

Based on Utilities' FEMA CRS Class 2 ranking, residents and businesses can qualify to receive up to a 40 percent discount on flood insurance premiums, one of the lowest rates in the country.

One activity credited by the CRS is an annual review of the Larimer County Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan. This review is required to be submitted to the media and is available at https://www.fcgov.com/oem. For more information on the CRS program or to request a copy, contact Heidi Hansen at 970-221-6854 or hhansen@fcgov.com.

The Larimer County Multi-Jurisdictional Hazard Mitigation Plan was updated in 2016. The plan assesses vulnerabilities to both natural and man-made hazards and recommends mitigation strategies. To review the plan or for questions about the annual report, contact Poudre Fire Authority Emergency Manager Mike Gavin, 970-416-2878 or migavin@poudre-fire.org.
