Fort Collins Utilities Joins Partnership for Clean Water

Posted on: Dec-22-2016

FORT COLLINS, Colo. - Fort Collins Utilities is one of the first utilities in the nation to participate as a Charter Subscriber of the Partnership for Clean Water, a new voluntary initiative that seeks to help wastewater utilities optimize the operations, performance and efficiency of treatment facilities.

"Our goal is to continually strive to improve," said Kevin Gertig, Fort Collins Utilities Executive Director. "This partnership will provide us with the opportunity to evaluate our wastewater treatment plant operations, water quality performance and energy efficiency to identify areas where facilities can be enhanced. This program aligns with the City's mission to provide world-class municipal services through operational excellence."

Developed by the American Water Works Association and launched in 2016 in collaboration with other industry organizations, the Partnership for Clean Water is a global optimization and recognition program for wastewater utilities. It was established as a parallel program to the Partnership for Safe Water, which has successfully helped hundreds of drinking water treatment plants and distribution systems optimize performance for more than 20 years.

Utilities has pledged to continually improve operational efficiency and water quality performance, using the program's rigorous self-assessment and peer review process.
