Trail Head Park

The City of Fort Collins Master Plan outlines a goal that every resident in Fort Collins is approximately one square mile away from a neighborhood park, and approximately four square miles away from a community park. To align with the goals of the City’s Master Plan, Park Planning and Development is working to create a new neighborhood park in the Trail Head neighborhood. We will host a number of meetings to collect feedback from the surrounding neighborhoods to gauge interest and learn about what features neighbors would like to see at the new park.

The current site of the future park was once the Hartshorn Tree Farm where many of the trees that line Mountain Avenue and Old Town were once grown. The site is also known for migratory bird populations that pass through. Park Planning and Development hopes to pay tribute to the site by incorporating features into the park design that reflect the area’s history and natural elements.

Construction of the park is anticipated to begin in the winter of 2020 and be complete in the late summer of 2020.

Follow us on the progress of the park.
