Police Investigate Fatal Vehicle vs Pedestrian Collision

Released on Friday, October 15, 2021

On October 15, 2021 at approximately 6:53 PM Fort Collins 911 received multiple calls regarding a vehicle vs pedestrian collision in the 1500 block of East Harmony Road. A 2019 white Jeep Wrangler was travelling westbound on Harmony Road when it collided with a pedestrian who was in the roadway. The pedestrian was an adult male and was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased. Due to the severity of the collision, the Fort Collins Police CRASH (Collision Reconstruction and Scene Handling) Team responded to further investigate the collision. Westbound Harmony Road was closed in between McMurry Avenue and Wheaton Drive for approximately four and a half hours while investigators processed the scene. Police are working to determine if the pedestrian was under the influence of alcohol at the time of the collision. Police do not suspect that speed or alcohol was a factor for the driver of the Jeep.

“We ask that pedestrians utilize marked crosswalks for everyone’s safety,” said Sergeant Mike Avrech who oversees the Fort Collins Police CRASH Team.

Anyone with information regarding this collision who has not already spoken to police is asked to call Officer Ken Koski at (970) 416 2229.
