FORT COLLINS – Based on changing state and county health orders and updated guidance from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the City of Fort Collins plans to rescind its local face covering order to align with the new state orders and until formally rescinded will not enforce the current local order.
On May 13, the Larimer County Department of Health & Environment (LCDHE) announced that all county public health orders related to COVID-19 would be lifted at 11:59 p.m. on May 16 at which point the county will follow statewide orders. On May 14, Governor Polis announced updates to the statewide mask order in alignment with newly released guidance from the CDC.
The new statewide guidance indicates that individuals who are fully vaccinated no longer need to wear a mask unless the business or setting they are in requires them. Masks are still required statewide in some settings including schools, childcare and healthcare settings. Masks are also still required nationwide at airports and on airplanes, trains, buses, and other public transit.
