Police Investigate Fatal Collision

On November 13, 2020 at approximately 3:59 pm Fort Collins Police Services were notified of a two-car collision at the intersection of Whalers Way and South Lemay Avenue. A 2008 Lincoln Navigator, driven by an adult female, was travelling southbound on Lemay Avenue when a 2014 Toyota Corolla driven by an adult male entered the Navigator's lane of travel. The Corolla was travelling westbound on Whalers Way before crossing Lemay Avenue. The driver of the Corolla was transported to an area hospital where he was pronounced deceased. The Larimer County Coroner will release the cause and manner of death at a later time. The driver of the Navigator was transported to an area hospital with minor injuries. "These cases are difficult for all involved," said Assistant Chief Tim Doran who oversees the Special Operations Division within Fort Collins Police Services, "our thoughts are with those who were involved and witnessed this tragic incident."

South Lemay Avenue was closed in between Ticonderoga Driver and the 4500 block of South Lemay Avenue while the Fort Collins CRASH (Collision Reconstruction and Scene Handling) Team processed the scene. The roadway was closed for approximately 4 hours. Anyone with information who has not already spoken to police and has information about this incident is asked to call Officer Ken Koski at (970) 416 2229. Police are currently investigating the factors that led up to this collision, no further information will be released at this time.
