Transfort to limit capacity on buses

Due to new guidance from the State of Colorado, Transfort will limit the number of passengers on buses to half of seated capacity beginning Monday, Nov. 9.
The guidance was issued this week by the Colorado Department of Public Health & Environment and comes as COVID-19 cases rise locally in Larimer County and in Colorado.
The new capacity limits mean most Transfort buses, including the FLEX service to Boulder, will have a maximum capacity of 15-20 passengers. MAX service, which has larger vehicles, will have a slightly larger maximum capacity.
Transfort riders are encouraged to plan ahead for their trips and avoid travel during peak periods, as no additional passengers will be allowed to board once a bus reaches maximum capacity.
To help maintain service with the capacity limits, Transfort will run “trailer buses” following buses on higher-use routes when possible. Trailer buses will not be provided on FLEX service.
Passengers are encouraged to plan trips outside of peak hours, especially on the FLEX.
Information for peak periods on specific routes can be found at www.ridetransfort.com. Transfort is strongly encouraging passengers to use transit service only for essential travel.
Buses on existing services will still operate on COVID-19 level schedules. Transfort routes which remain suspended are 11, 12, 19, and GOLD.
Face coverings continue to be required on all Transfort buses. All Transfort services continue to be fare-free under an emergency order signed in March.
All residents can schedule a taxi trip to or from a bus stop along a route that is suspended, or to or from another linked bus stop or transit center. There are no fares associated with these taxi trips at this time. This service is available Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., and Saturday and Sunday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Taxi trips must be scheduled the same day the trip will be taken by calling 970-225-4831. Call center hours are Monday through Friday from 5:30 a.m. to 8 p.m., and Saturday through Sunday from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. The taxi service will not be available on the FLEX route.
