Police Investigate Fatal Motorcycle Collision
On February 27, 2020 at 11:27pm, Fort Collins Police Services was notified of a motorcycle collision at the intersection of Rock Creek Drive and Corbett Drive.
A 2017 Harley Davidson motorcycle was traveling west on Rock Creek Drive from Ziegler Road. At the intersection with Corbett Drive, the motorcycle failed to negotiate the roundabout and collided with the center median.
The operator, a 36-year-old man from Yorkville, Illinois, was taken to an area hospital where he died from his injuries. He was not wearing a helmet. The operator’s name will be released by the Larimer County Coroner’s Office at a later time.
“Our hearts are with the family of the motorcyclist during this difficult time,” said FCPS Chief Jeff Swoboda. “The loss of a loved one is never easy, especially in unexpected circumstances such as this.”
The intersection was closed for approximately 3.5 hours while investigators processed the scene. Police believe speed contributed to the collision.
Anyone with information about the collision, who has not already given a statement to police, is asked to contact Officer Drew Jurkofsky at 970-416-2224.
