The City of Fort Collins is preparing for heavy snow forecast tonight through tomorrow due to the current winter storm.
All City offices and facilities, except essential 24/7 services, will be CLOSED on Tuesday, Nov. 26. Transfort buses will operate on a normal schedule. FLEX service is delayed through the morning.
The Streets Department is pre-treating roads throughout Fort Collins, and plowing will begin with the snowfall in accordance with the City’s snow removal plan. That plan, as well as the City’s Snow Plow Tracking feature, can be found online by clicking the “Snow & Ice Control” tab at https://www.fcgov.com/streets/.
Residents should avoid travel if possible and use caution as snowfall continues. Drivers are reminded to give snowplows plenty of space to work.
In addition, the Traffic Operations Department is advising drivers that due to a combination of high snowfall amounts and wind, it is possible that some traffic signal heads may become blocked by the snow. At intersections where that occurs and drivers cannot tell what color the signal is showing, drivers should treat the signal as a stop sign and proceed when safe to do so.
Drivers involved in non-injury, non-drug/alcohol-related crashes may exchange information and report accidents online in lieu of waiting for a police response. Information is available at https://www.fcgov.com/police/accidents.
Updates about the storm will be posted to the city’s social media channels.
