The City of Fort Collins Recreation Department will unveil the Senior Center’s $6.8 million dollar expansion on Thursday, July 10 at 5:30 PM. The Fort Collins Senior Center, 1200 Raintree Drive, has been under construction since October 2013. The project’s grand opening will include three days of activities, programs and events. The upgraded facility features increased health and wellness opportunities as well as a new auditorium and social space. The Senior Center’s new weight/cardio room includes state-of-the-art equipment in a larger space. The new health and wellness wing is home to a unique community health partnership between Recreation, Columbine Health and University of Colorado Health. This partnership will allow Recreation to increase service levels and offer more health and wellness related programming.
The grand opening festivities will begin on Thursday, July 10 at 5:30 PM with a ribbon cutting ceremony and comments from Mayor Karen Weitkunat, Mayor Pro Tem Gerry Horak and City Manager Darin Atteberry. Following the ribbon cutting a reception will be held at the Senior Center. Tours of the facility will also be provided. On July 10, 11, 12 visitors are welcome to participate in freerecreation programs and activities at the Senior Center. Community members are invited to experience the new Senior Center’s expanded programs and opportunities. Registration for some free programs is required.
