Fort Collins police are continuing their investigation into an officer-involved shooting that occurred Thursday, June 5, after officers responded to a report of a man with a knife in the emergency room parking lot at Poudre Valley Hospital – University of Colorado Health, 1024 S. Lemay Avenue.

The police officer involved in the shooting has been identified as Officer Mathew Brough. Officer Brough joined Fort Collins Police Services in January 2011. It is the policy of Fort Collins Police Services to place any officer who is involved in a shooting on paid administrative leave during the investigation.

The suspect has been identified as 53-year-old Richard Ivey of Fort Collins. Ivey remains hospitalized for treatment of injuries. Hospital and police personnel have been unable to contact Mr. Ivey’s family or friends. If anyone has information about the whereabouts of his family, please contact Fort Collins Police Det.
