Thursday is the deadline to apply for the City’s 2014 Spring Competitive Process for human and social services agencies.
Twice a year, the City’s Social Sustainability department seeks applications from agencies that serve low-income Fort Collins residents through housing and other public services. City Council ultimately allocates the funding – a combination of federal and City sources – after recommendations from the City’s Community Development Block Grant Commission.
The spring 2013 process funded 29 projects and programs totaling $1.5 million. About $1 million was awarded in the fall.
Among the projects funded in the fall:
- The City’s Homebuyer Assistance Program (HBA), $200,000 for downpayment assistance to low-income first-time homebuyers.
- Larimer Home Improvement Program managed by Housing Authority of Loveland, $30,000 for the Emergency Funds for low-income homeowners living in Fort Collins.
- Housing Catalyst, nearly $900,000 to rehab affordable housing.
- Neighbor to Neighbor, $35,000 to replace windows at Coachlight Plaza with energy-efficient windows.
