Governor John Hickenlooper named Mayor Pro Tem Gerry Horak to the Denver Metropolitan Area Regional Air Quality Council (RAQC) on Nov. 25.
Horak will work hand in hand with other members of the group to ensure that the citizens of Fort Collins, Denver and all of Colorado can breathe easier.
“I am humbled and honored that the Governor has named me to the Denver Metropolitan Area Regional Air Quality Council as the Larimer County representative,” said Horak. “I look forward to the opportunity to work with other board members from the region to improve air quality for all our citizens.”
The RAQC, established in 1989, is the lead air quality planning agency for the Denver metro area. In July Gov. Hickenlooper extended and amended the RAQC to include the Denver Metro/North Front Range Ozone Non-Attainment Area. The Council develops and proposes effective and cost efficient air quality planning initiatives with input from government agencies, stakeholder groups, the private sector and citizens.
“As a member of this important board, you become a vital part of moving Colorado forward and seeing that it continues to be the best place in the country to live and work,” said Gov. Hickenlooper in the appointment letter. “Your participation and the skills and the talents that you bring to this board benefit all Coloradans.”
