The City of Fort Collins Parks and Recreation Departments 4th of July Parade was a success on Independence Day with over 45 floats and parade entries participating. The patriotism and love for the USA certainly showed with the entries as well as the spectators who camped out on Mountain Avenue as early as 8:45 am.

The 2013 awards are for Best Overall, 2nd Place and 3rd Place. The judges were: Jared Polis, Colorado Senator; Lew Gaiter III, Larimer County Commissioner; Gerry Horak, City of Fort Collins Council Member; Darin Atteberry, City Manager; and Wendy Williams, Assistant City Manager. The scores were based on a scale of 1 to 5 in the areas of patriotism, creativity and enthusiasm. The competition was good this year and the scores were close. Each placing entry will be given an award to commemorate their participation.

The awards go to:
Best Overall: City of Fort Collins Youth Sports
2nd Place: Fort Collins Baseball Club
3rd Place: Fort Collins Area Swim Team (FAST)
