Crews will shortly begin building the Northbound Olive Station and the Southbound Laurel Station in the final wave of Downtown station construction for the MAX Bus Rapid Transit system. Closures will occur on northbound Mason Street just north of Olive Street, and on southbound Mason Street north of Laurel Street, beginning on Monday, July 8 and lasting until early fall 2013. Additional short term closures will occur as needed while finish work continues at the Northbound Mulberry and Northbound Laurel Stations.
Olive and Laurel Streets will remain open to through traffic during closures, and access will be provided to adjacent businesses. The sidewalks in closure areas will be closed during construction; pedestrians should use the posted detour routes. Motorists are advised to use posted detour routes onto College Avenue or Howes Street. Please note that as finish work on stations occurs throughout the year, reopened areas may experience additional short-term closures.
MAX is on the Way!
Construction of the MAX Bus Rapid Transit system will continue until early 2014, with MAX service beginning in May 2014. MAX will offer passengers rail-like convenience at 12 stations and 2 transit centers between Downtown and Harmony Road, with service every 10 minutes and real-time bus arrival information at each station. MAX will connect Downtown Fort Collins, Colorado State University, Midtown and south Fort Collins, providing new economic redevelopment opportunities near station locations.
