Several Clive Cussler and Tom Clancy best-selling action adventure thrillers have been co-written by Fort Collins author Grant Blackwood. And now you will have the opportunity to delve into the mysteries of the co-writing process as you will meet Blackwood during an after-hours event at the Fort Collins Senior Center May 21. Blackwood will be interviewed by Roger Wolfe, former 9News video photographer/reporter, and attendees can have their own questions answered during the event beginning at 7:00 PM.

Some of the questions that may be answered are: How does a local author become a co-writer for these two best-selling, world-famous novelists? Where does he get his inspirations? Are the historic references in the books accurate? How involved are Cussler or Clancy in the writing? Blackwood has collaborated with Cussler on these Fargo novels: Spartan Gold, The Lost Empire and The Kingdom. He worked with Clancy on Dead or Alive and others. He also has his own series of novels with protagonist Briggs Tanner in The End of Enemies, The Wall of Night and An Echo of War. He is working on another collaborative series, as well as his own new stand-alone action series. Blackwood is a U.S. Navy veteran who spent three years aboard a guided missile frigate as an operations specialist and pilot rescue swimmer. For more than two decades Wolfe was the 9News northern newsroom reporter. Wolfe lives in Fort Collins with his wife.

The Blackwood event is free but tickets are required. They are available at the Senior Center and Firehouse Bookstore in Old Town Fort Collins. The event will also feature book sales and Blackwood autographs. Free-will offerings will be accepted. The event is a fundraiser for the Senior Center Expansion that is coming soon. More details and architect’s drawings for the expansion also will be available that evening.
