The City of Fort Collins will begin construction on a number of infrastructure improvements on and around Lemay Avenue this year, with the first project – a new bike and pedestrian crossing – scheduled to begin March 1.

The City’s FC Moves, Engineering, Streets, and Utilities departments all have work scheduled for 2021. Projects have a number of start and end dates continuing from March into the fall.

The projects include:

  • A new pedestrian/bicycle crossing at Columbia Road/Parkwood Drive and Lemay,
  • Concrete repairs and paving on Lemay from Riverside Avenue to Horsetooth Road, and
  • Work on stormwater lines and water lines.

Additionally in the area, Utilities will work to replace a water line and repave Brookwood Drive from Parkwood to Stuart Street in late summer through early fall.

During construction, Lemay Avenue will undergo several lane closures, including a full closure of Lemay between Drake Road and Columbia Road on March 13-21, and directional closures during paving later this year.

Drivers should be prepared for changing traffic patterns over the course of the year and use caution in work zones. Detours will be posted as needed.

These projects will result in a better bicycle and pedestrian crossing of Lemay, an improved driving surface, and continued reliability of City utilities.

Due to the number of departments involved, the City has created a unified e-mail address for residents to contact about the project: lemay2021@fcgov.com.
