The City of Fort Collins will temporarily allow applicants for contractor licensing to use certification from the 2009 version of the International Building Code to apply for licenses with the City.
Last year, the City updated its regulations to require that contractors pass the 2018 version of the International Building Code exam. However, because testing facilities are closed, the City will allow applicants to be licensed if they have passed the 2009 version.
The order will be in effect until the City’s local emergency declaration ends or until testing facilities reopen, whichever is first.
City Manager Darin Atteberry signed an emergency order authorizing the change on April 24. A copy of the City’s order is included with this press release.
