On Wednesday, May 22, 2019, Fort Collins Police received more than ten Safe2Tell reports about a Fossil Ridge High School student.

The reports, which came in after the conclusion of the school day, indicated that the student had made statements threatening school violence. School Resource Officers immediately conducted an investigation and made contact with the student. He was ultimately cited for Interference with Staff, Faculty, or Students of an Educational Institution (class 1 misdemeanor).

"We always tell people that if they see something, say something," said Sgt. Laura Lunsford, who supervises the School Resource Officer program. "The students who reported their concerns via Safe2Tell did exactly that, and we're proud of them for taking their safety seriously."

Due to statutory privacy protections afforded to juveniles, the student’s name will not be released. All charges are simply an accusation by law enforcement officers, and all arrested parties must be presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
