image for press release Kites in the Park Gets a New Name, New Location; Kids in the Park is May 19 at Twin Silo Park A new twist on an old favorite, Kids in the Park will be held at Twin Silo Park (5552 Ziegler Road) on Sunday, May 19 from 10 a.m. – 3 p.m. Formerly known as Kites in the Park, this local favorite is expanding to include even more family-friendly attractions such as live music, a parkour obstacle course, a scavenger hunt, and wiffleball games, as well as old favorites like kite decorating and flying.

Kids in the Park is an outdoor event hosted by the City of Fort Collins Recreation Department and encourages folks to get outside and play. Local vendors, food trucks, park games, and of course, kite flying will be available throughout the day. First National Bank is once again the Title Sponsor for Kids and the Park, providing free kites for the first 1,000 children who attend. Live musical performances include Mulewax Music, Crescent City Connection, and a Zumbini dance skit.

This year, Kids in the Park has moved from its previous location at Spring Canyon Community Park to Fort Collins newest community park, Twin Silo Park. Twin Silo Park opened in November 2017 on the southeast side of Fort Collins. The 54-acre park is home to community gardens, a BMX course, pickleball courts, a dog park, ball diamonds, multi-purpose turf fields, and a large playground that features a silo slide. Parking for Kids in the Park is available at Fossil Ridge High School.
