[Update] Verbena death ruled homicide, victim identified
The Larimer County Coroner has identified the victim in a recent death case as Joseph “Sonny” Brigman (DOB 09/14/1956).
On April 29, officers responded to the report of an unresponsive man, later determined to be Brigman, at an apartment on Verbena Way. The man was transported to an area hospital and died as a result of his injuries. The Larimer County Coroner’s Office has officially ruled Brigman’s death as a homicide. His cause of death was exsanguination (blood loss) from a gunshot wound.

At 10:01 p.m. on April 29, 2019, Fort Collins 911 received a call regarding a seriously injured man in the 4100 block of Verbena Way.
A neighbor had gone to visit the victim and found him unresponsive in his apartment. First responders located the man in his home, and he was immediately transported to Medical Center of the Rockies where he later died as a result of his injuries. Detectives are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding his death.
The Larimer County Coroner will release the victim's identity pending notification of family.
