Police Investigate Train Collision

On January 24, 2019 at approximately 1:29 am Fort Collins Police Services received a report of a female being struck by a train near the intersection of W. Mountain Ave. and N. Mason St.
A BNSF Railway train was traveling northbound along the railroad tracks on N. Mason St. when a 42-year-old female pedestrian, identified as Hannah Mahady of Fort Collins, was struck by the locomotive. Mahady was transported to the hospital with serious injuries.
Members of the Fort Collins Police Services CRASH (Collision Reconstruction and Scene Handling) Team and BNSF personnel responded to investigate the collision. Investigators do not believe speed is a factor in the case.
The train blocked roads intersecting with Mason St. from Laporte Ave. to W. Lake St. for approximately two hours while the incident was investigated.
