A heads up for construction this month as Mulberry west of Shields will get a refresh

Beginning the week of July 22, sections of W. Mulberry Street, between Overland Trail and Jackson Avenue, and S. Impala Dr. will be closed to allow for road resurfacing and restriping. This project aims to address safety concerns and improve traveling conditions with the addition of a center turn lane, crossing improvements and protected bike lanes.

These improvements implement recommendations from both the 2017 Old Town Neighborhoods Plan and 2014 Bicycle Master Plan. The lower traffic volumes along this section of W. Mulberry allow for one travel lane in each direction, while the new center turn lane provides safer and more convenient left turns to residential driveways and local streets, and can help traffic flow by removing turning vehicles from the travel lane. Space gained from the reduction in lanes will be used to enhance bicycle travel, while also increasing the distance between the sidewalk and vehicle traffic. Crossing improvements will be completed at: Mulberry at Impala/Ponderosa, Mulberry at City Park, and Shields at Magnolia.

Street closures will begin at 7:00 a.m. on the dates and locations listed below and will be fully closed for up to 48 hours. See below table for specific closures information. Specific access information will be provided to residents and businesses directly impacted by the closures. For questions, please contact the Project Manager.
