Transfort, the City of Fort Collins transit agency, Homeless Gear and local businesses are partnering this month to help those experiencing homelessness in our community by collecting donations March 19 - 23 during the “Stuff the Bus” event.
A Transfort bus will be at three locations collecting new and used outerwear, footwear, non-perishable food items, rain coats and more to distribute throughout the community. Homeless Gear’s mission is to empower individuals who face homelessness to survive, move forward and thrive. Collection times and locations are below:
Monday, March 19 | 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.| Public Service Credit Union, 2503 Research Blvd.
Thursday, March 22 | 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. | Walkway behind 222 LaPorte Ave.
Friday, March 23 | 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. | Brinkman & Brinkman Construction, 3528 Precision Dr.
“When Transfort approached us about a ‘Stuff the Bus’ event, we were overwhelmed with gratitude - not just because of the event itself, but because of the creativity and involvement of this community,” said Chelsey Mandell, Development Director at Homeless Gear. “While many of our programs focus on long-term goals such as employment services and housing retention, we know that meeting basic needs is a prerequisite to everything else. Thank you Transfort, the City of Fort Collins, Brinkman & Brinkman Construction, Public Service Credit Union and the Fort Collins community for making this event possible!”
