UPDATED 11/10/19 12:15pm

The Larimer County Coroner has identified the deceased individuals as Kelly Cortez, age 47 and her son Joshua Cortez, Age 17, both of Fort Collins, Colorado. Our thoughts are with their family and friends during this difficult time.

On November 09, 2017 at approximately 7:21 pm, Fort Collins Police responded to a collision involving two vehicles at the intersection of Richards Lake Road and Giddings Road.

A 1994 Honda Accord was traveling south on Giddings Road. A 1985 Chevrolet Corvette was traveling east on Richards Lake Road and collided with the passenger side of Accord. Both vehicles traveled southeast through the intersection before coming to rest in the field. The front passenger from each vehicle was ejected during the collision.

The driver of the Corvette, Connor Givans, 18, was transported by ambulance to Poudre Valley Hospital. The front passenger in the Corvette, David Muncy, 19, was airlifted to Medical Center of the Rockies.

The driver and front passenger of the Honda Accord, a 17-year-old male and 47-year-old female, were pronounced deceased. Their identities will be released by the Larimer County Coroner’s Office at a later time.

The intersection of Richards Lake Road and Giddings Road was closed for approximately 8 hours while the Fort Collins Police CRASH Team investigated the incident. Police are working to determine if speed was a factor in the collision. Police do not believe alcohol was a contributing factor.

The investigation is ongoing and charges are pending. Anyone who has information and has not spoken to law enforcement should contact Officer Tim Brennan at 970-416-2229. People can also contact Crime Stoppers of Larimer County at 970-221-6868 or and may remain anonymous.
