‘Beds ‘n Shreds’ Recycling Event June 10 at Timberline Recycling Center
The City of Fort Collins, Spring Back Mattress Recycling, and Waste-Not Recycling will host a one-day recycling event for residents to drop off unwanted mattresses and bedsprings, and secure documents to be shredded and recycled from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 10 at the Timberline Recycling Center, 1903 S. Timberline Road.
The regular $5 entry fee to the hard-to-recycle yard will apply. Mattresses and box springs will be an additional $10 each. To be accepted for recycling, mattresses and box springs must be free of bed bugs. Attendants will be on hand to help customers with unloading.
Each banker’s box of secure documents for shredding will cost an additional $5 (maximum weight: 35 pounds each). Residents should remove non-paper notebooks, three-ring binders and binder clips from the documents to be shredded.
During the “Beds ‘n Shreds” event, the TRC will be open for regular business for traditional recycling and hard-to-recycle items including scrap metal, yard debris and non-treated wood, batteries, used motor oil and cooking oil, electronic waste, aggregates/porcelain, and paint. The City’s recycling center, which opened August 2016, may be accessed via southbound Timberline Road’s dedicated pullout lane, to accommodate extra traffic.
A second special collection event is planned at the TRC in October. Information about the City’s recycling programs is available at www.fcgov.com/recycling. Information about Spring Back Mattress Recycling, a not-for-profit company that provides redemptive employment opportunities for men and women who are in recovery programs, is available at https://www.springbackco.org/.
