On January 1, 2017 at 10:54 a.m., Fort Collins Police Services was notified of a collision with serious injuries at the intersection of Lemay Avenue and Stuart Street.

A 2000 Dodge Durango was traveling north on Lemay Avenue in the right through-lane. At the intersection with Stuart Street, the Durango failed to stop for a red light. The front of the Durango collided with the passenger side of a 2007 Honda sedan traveling east on Stuart Street.

The driver of the Honda, John Dodds, 73, and front seat passenger, Carol McKee, 74, both from Fort Collins, were taken to Medical Center of the Rockies for treatment of serious injuries. The driver of the Durango, Roxane Carpenter, 55, of Fort Collins, was not injured.

The intersection of Lemay Avenue and Stuart Street was closed for approximately 4 hours while investigators processed the scene. Police do not believe alcohol, drugs or speed contributed to the collision. The investigation is continuing and charges are pending.

Anyone with information about the collision, who has not already given a statement to police, is asked to contact Officer Drew Jurkofsky at 970-416-2224 or Crime Stoppers of Larimer County at 970-221-6868.
